SIMCOCK IN DARK OVER DREAM FLOP

Dream Ahead: No excuse forthcoming for flop

David Simcock doesn't expect anything to come to light to explain Dream Ahead's flop in Sunday's Prix Maurice de Gheest.
The July Cup hero was sent off a warm favourite for the Deauville showpiece but was never a factor.
"I've no real excuses, nothing really to report. He ran flat, there was no zip, no acceleration. We'll take a blood test on Tuesday and he'll canter on Wednesday but I'd be very surprised if we found something," the trainer told At The Races.
"William (Buick) said everything was fine for two furlongs but after that he got no response whatsoever. I'd love to have an excuse but really don't have one at the moment. The ground was not a problem and Genki ran very well in fourth and we had him four or five lengths back at Newmarket. If we'd been second or third you'd be more disappointed but he just hasn't fired."
Future plans for the colt remain unchanged though.
"We'll go to Haydock for the Sprint Cup and hopefully we can stay unbeaten at six furlongs," the trainer added.
