DONCASTER ON DRAGON RADAR

The Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster is being considered as a possible end of season target for Jessica Harrington's exciting juvenile Dragon Pulse.

The Futurity Stakes winner went down by just half a length to Power in the National Stakes at the Curragh on his latest start and connections considered reopposing the winner in this weekend's Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

But Harrington feels conditions at Headquarters could be too fast for her charge and she is keeping her powder dry with a trip to Town Moor pencilled in if the ground is right.

"We haven't made any definite decisions yet but he could go to the Racing Post Trophy if we get the ground he wants," said Harrington.

"I'm delighted with him and I'd been training him for the Dewhurst until Monday, but I just felt he wouldn't get the genuine good ground that he wants at Newmarket so we decided against it.

"I was delighted with his run in the National Stakes and if he carries on training well and we get good ground at Doncaster, he could go there."

As Dragon Pulse does not hold an entry in the Racing Post Trophy, connections would have to stump up £17,500 to add him to the field the Monday before the race.

Twenty-eight horses are in the mix for the one-mile contest following the latest forfeit stage, with Aidan O'Brien responsible for no less than 12 of the possible participants.

Apollo, Camelot, Tibet and David Livingston are among those who could represent Ballydoyle.

The unbeaten Ektihaam, Brian Meehan's Most Improved and Fencing from the John Gosden yard are other contenders.
