STARS SET TO ROCK SANDOWN

Rock The Stars will be rolling for a £100,000 bonus at Sandown when he goes for a third course success of the year later this month.

The bonus is rewarded to the connections of any horse that has won two races at the Esher venue from April 23 then goes on to win the £50,000 Variety Club Day feature handicap on August 20 over a mile and a quarter.

Rock The Stars' trainer John Hills is keen to give the four-year-old a crack at the big pot as he has already chalked up two wins over the course and distance in May and July.

"Rock The Stars has done extremely well this season and we are all hoping he can produce one more top performance to scoop the £100,000 bonus that Sandown Park have offered, providing he gets in the race," said Hills.

"It is a fantastic initiative, especially in the current tariff climate as it rewards the stable staff as well as the owner."

Sandown racing director and clerk of the course Andrew Cooper said: "We introduced the bonus last year which saw two horses qualifying for it on Variety Club Day and this year we have the John Hills-trained Rock The Stars.

"We all wish them the very best of luck."
