BOND FILLY SHOWS TRUE COLOURS

True Bond came with a rattling run in the centre of the course to open her account in the EBF Beverley Annual Badgeholders Maiden Fillies Stakes.

After being unable to keep tabs with the leaders in the early stages, the 16-1 shot buckled down well to make a late impact on the rain-softened ground.

In a driving finish she obliged by a head in the hands of 3lb claimer Dale Swift from newcomer First PhaseM with 4-9 favourite Thewinningmachine only third.

Co-owner and breeder Reg Bond said: "It's great news again for the stud as she's another home-bred filly that's won for us.

"It's amazing, really, how so many of our horses look like her father (Monsieur Bond).

"We felt the ground was perfect for her and thought the trip would be ideal, too."

Trainer Geoff Oldroyd added: "I quite fancied her today but it was hard to be confident because she was absolutely diabolical at Newcastle last time."
