TREASURE BEACH STRIKES GOLD IN USA

Treasure Beach won a thrilling renewal of the Secretariat Stakes at Arlington in Chicago.

The result turned out to be a tremendous result for Europe as the Irish Derby winner got the better of France's Ziyarid after the pair battled for superiority down the home straight.

The winner got a very strong ride from Colm O'Donoghue and he answered his rider's every call as he edged ahead in the final 50 yards to narrowly claim the Grade 1.

Banned was best of the home contingent in third place.

Stacelita, who was having her first run for American trainer Chad Brown after previously been in the care of Jean-Claude Rouget in France, found her best form again to win the Grade 1 Beverley D Stakes.

The daughter of Monsun was never far away as she tracked the pace in third place behind Dubawi Heights and when the latter drifted away from the rail entering the home straight, she was through the gap like a shot and was always in command from that point under Ramon Dominguez.

Dubawi Heights kept on well for second and lost nothing in defeat as she went in search of a four-timer this season for Simon Callaghan.

Mike De Kock's River Jetez was third for Christophe Soumillon.
