Michael Owen's Ladbrokes St Leger hope Brown Panther is among a batch of four three-year-olds taking on their elders in the CGA Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.
Brown Panther, trained by Tom Dascombe, made an unsuccessful trip to Hamburg where he could manage only fifth in the German Derby, but he had looked good when slamming fellow Geoffrey Freer rival Census by six lengths in the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot.
Census, trained by Richard Hannon, and John Gosden's Buthelezi also hold entries in the Doncaster Classic next month, but the fourth three-year-old, Marcus Tregoning's Yaseer, does not.
Of the older generation going for this Group Three contest, last year's disqualified Oaks runner-up Meeznah bids to supplement her recent overdue win at Goodwood.
John Dunlop pitches the five-year-old Times Up after his second at Longchamp last month.
All The Aces, Alwaary, Chiberta King, Claremont and French raider Mores Wells complete a field of 11.
